                                                                                                          Is your thermostat programmed correctly?

The average household spends more than $1,100 a year on heating and cooling the home.  Homeowners can save about $180 a year by properly setting their programmable thermostats and not playing with the stat.

A programmable thermostat helps make it easy for you to save by offering four pre-programmed settings to regulate your home's temperature, and are intended to deliver savings without sacrificing comfort.

                                                                                                          Programmable Thermostat Features

Filter Change Indicator :  May be an indicator light or your thermostat may tell you on screen to change filter. If you thermostat uses a pre-set time this should be set to once a month. On some thermostats the change filter works off static  ( pressure ) on the blower motor. This is to remind you that it is time to clean or replace the filter.  A clean filter improves the efficiency of your air conditioner. You are spending more money not keeping your filter clean. A clogged filter will also damage your unit over time.

Battery Indicator: Tells you when the batteries need to be replaced. You do not want to have to reprogram your thermostat and on some thermostats you may lose your cooling or heating. It is better to replace the batteries when the stat tells you to. If your thermostat dos not have an indicator you should change you batteries every two years or when the manufacture suggests.
